Productivity
The EWAB system above increased productivity by more than 25% when only 20% was installed and used in full production. Work-in-process decreased to 10% of what it was before the investment.

The production capacity with this investment doubled and installation and re-allocation of machines were carried out during full production. No loss of production was measurable during the installation period.

The whole production facility was re-arranged, about half of the machines were added and the EWAB system was installed during a time period of about four months.
Flexibility
The system above handles about 100 different part numbers divided into four families. These four families are produced at random and simultaneously in the system.

Some resources are dedicated to a certain family, some resources are changed over depending on need and some resources can take any part either in batches or totally at random.

The modularity of the system allowed the customer to change their mind even after the equipment was loaded on to delivery trucks. The entire system was installed mirror image to the original layout.
